Digitalized
machinery solutions the drivers for Savio

Savio offers numerous machinery solutions
to support the quality of the final yarn product: winding, TFO twisting,
open-end rotor spinning, Multicone thread guide and more.
The new series of ‘Savio Solutions’
brochures helps customers to decide which technology is best suited to their
needs according to the type of yarn: denim, cellulosic fiber yarns, wool, flax
linen, aramid yarns, super fine yarns.
Automation and digital solutions are also
big drives for Savio. The latest automated solution Multi-Link was presented
which connects multiple ring spinning frames (RSF) to one Savio winder,
becoming a tailor-made circuit to link two or three RSFs to one winding
machine. This solution optimizes space, reduces energy-consumption and
production costs.
The automatic bobbin transport shortens
servicing paths for the operators and allows an ergonomic material flow. The
costs for production, space and energy are reduced, while keeping the quality
consistent even with long and multi-connected machines. Another main
improvement is digitalization and data exchange in manufacturing technologies,
the company added.
Savio’s product development is now focused
on ‘smart’ components that must transmit data online. The new possibilities offered
by the connection of machines translate into the different levels of Savio
Industrial IoT (IIoT), with the possibility of progressive sophistication.
The technology has different option levels,
each corresponding to a different dose of Industry 4.0 applied to Savio textile
winding machinery, from simple connectivity and machinery data downloading, to
remote machine setup, to operator real-time interactivity.
Savio’s technical services also have a a
new and innovative augmented reality (AR) tool to fast troubleshoot, improve
processes and increase machine utilization time. Due to the current travel
restrictions, in order to ensure machinery effectiveness, Savio is offering
remote assistance powered by TeamViewer Pilot, an application that allows interaction
in AR.
A solution portfolio for yarn processing and textile printing by Habasit
A global belting market leader, Habasit, provided its portfolio of textile industry solutions covering yarn processing, textile printing and nonwoven materials manufacture at Innovate Textile & Apparel.
Habasit’s new TL power transmission belts with innovative foamed TPU covers (patent pending) are particularly suitable for medium-class driving belt applications for yarn processing. This new version of polyester-based traction layers provides abrasion resistance combined with good and constant grip.
The new belts enhance Habasit’s comprehensive power transmission and conveyor belt range for yarn processing, serving applications for short and long staple and man-made fibers from bale opening to carding, combing, winding, and twisting.
The company emphasizes that its belts offer high machine productivity and output, valuable energy savings, long lifetimes, reduced downtimes, and consistent yarn quality.
Habasit’s printing blanket is optimized for every type of digital textile printing machine, from plotter types to high-productivity and high-precision multi or single-pass printing machines, and flat bed and rotary screen printing machines. Very wide printing blankets can also be accommodated.
Habasit belts used with crosslapper machines to produce nonwoven textiles have had a growing market share. Meanwhile, where nonwoven production applications require very large belt widths, Habasit's plastic modular belts fit the bill.
Mesdan develops innovative cotton stickiness testing method
Mesdan, a worldwide leader in the
production of joining devices for the textile industry, noticed that there are
several testing techniques for determining cotton stickiness: chemical, mechanical,
and thermo-mechanical methods.
In the latest findings of the ITMF
International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods, in cooperation with CIRAD,
Fiber Institute Bremen and ICA Bremen, one important conclusion has been
outlined, "Due to its highest correlation with processing behaviour and
yarn quality, only thermo-mechanical methods are recommended (in both
production and trade)."
The high variation in stickiness within a
sample, as well as within a bale and within a lot, makes the thermo-mechanical
method suitably designed for daily mass testing, in a trading context as well
as in the spinning mill, thus overcoming the constraints of other methods
(chemical and physical).
Among the different thermo-mechanical
equipment used in the ITMF-ICCTM proficiency testing, the results of the
Contest-S, Mesdan’s cotton stickiness tester, were proven to provide the lowest
inter-laboratory CV % variations.
In order to supply a solution to overcome
the troublesome effects of cotton stickiness (honeydew/sugar content), Mesdan
developed a specific testing method as an integral part of its Contest-S and
Contest-F equipment and introduced it on the virtual show.
The stickiness module is distinguished by:
- Fully automatic high-volume testing
equipment designed to detect, measure, and classify cotton stickiness
- Its unique feature of simulating the
carding process like in real spinning conditions provides a reliable evaluation
of the effective stickiness (cotton fibres tendency to stick to
cotton-processing surfaces)

probability assessment enables spinners to anticipate proper actions (how to
process and blend different cotton bales)
- Fast testing (30 sec/sample) designed for
massive stickiness classification of bales and lots (>500 tests/shift)

Standalone
version of Uster Quality Expert is available
Uster Technologies launched and showcased a
new standalone version of Uster Quality Expert, to perform advanced quality and
process optimization for a much wider range of yarn manufacturers.
The new standalone Uster Quality Expert and
the version hosted on Uster Tester 6, share the same newly updated software
release. Both versions deliver uncompromising standards in ultimate analysis,
unique value modules and fault prevention mechanisms.
Uster Quality Expert also enables informed
decision-making. The new standalone version offers the same value-added
reports, based on combined data from laboratory instruments and in-line
monitoring systems. And remote access to production information, whenever and

Spinners can also connect the Uster Mobile
Alerts app to Uster Quality Expert to control mill operations from mobile
phones. The remote features are designed to keep users safe yet enable them to
control important production factors.
As each connected instrument joins the
Quality Management Platform, Uster Quality Expert expands its intelligence for
fault prevention and assured quality. Each value module of Uster Quality Expert
helps to automate costly tasks, prevent faults and drive higher process
performance to the required quality levels.
Control of key quality indicators, and
analysis enabling correlative actions, are part of the Total Contamination
Control (TCC) and Ring Spinning Optimisation (RSO) value modules, Uster explained.
TCC combines data from Uster Quantum 3 yarn
clearers and Uster Jossi Vision Shield fibre cleaning to give spinners precise
control over contamination levels in yarns. Interaction between initial control
at fiber cleaning and final control at winding makes it possible to balance
ejections and clearer cuts.
When connecting Uster Quantum 3 and Uster Sentinel
to Uster Quality Expert, mills can correlate ring quality data and winding
quality for ultimate control over productivity and quality.
