Finishing and dyeing add value to textile products, making them more attractive, useful or functional, as well as more receptive to the next stage of manufacturing. The following exhibitors unveiled their innovative technologies for finishing and dyeing at the Innovate Textile & Apparel virtual show.

During the participation in Innovate Textile & Apparel, Monforts, a leading machinery manufacturer in the field of textile finishing based in Germany, demonstrated its leading position in three key fields: advanced coating, denim finishing and fabric sanforising.

One of the company’s exhibits was the latest MontexCoat system. With its multi-head capability, the coating system provides the flexibility that the market has been looking for, with a range of options and modules available.

According to Monforts, it offers completely integrated coating lines from a single source and the coating machine is tailored to the subsequent Monforts drying technology, with the benefits resulting from fully integrated plc control. Its systems have short fabric path from the coating unit into the stenter and the company had variations of coating application systems.


Meanwhile, denim finishing is a field in which Monforts has a lead and it has been working closely with its many partners in the key denim manufacturing countries like Bangladesh, Brazil and China. The latest product - CYD yarn dyeing system - was exhibited.

It integrates new functions and processes into the weaving preparatory processes – spinning, direct beaming, warping and assembly beaming, followed by sizing and dyeing – in order to increase quality, flexibility, economic viability and productivity.

As with Montex stenters, Monfortex lines benefit from the latest Qualitex 800 control system which allows all parameters to be easily automated via the 24-inch color touchscreen, including production speed, control of all fabric feed devices, rotation spray or steaming cylinder options, the width of the stretching field and the rubber belt pressure.

The Orthopac RVMC-15.Advancement in Mahlo straightening technology

With its device generation 15, Mahlo displayed its new standards on textile production and finishing.

For distortion detection, Mahlo utilized sensors with an oscillating lens or high-resolution camera and a modular system that allows the company to provide the right scanning system for different applications.

Arranged on a carrier bridge, several of these sensors simultaneously detect the position of the weft thread at different points. The scanning system detects and analyzes the regular basic structure of the weft threads, courses, or rows of tufting. It automatically adapts the control system to a wide variety of textiles, even with the very complicated fabric structures.

Moreover, in order to correct the measured distortions, a sophisticated and universally applicable straightener is required. The hardware of the Orthopac RVMC was revised to perform high straightening accuracy and progressive straightening speed. The highly compact mechanical straightener is equipped as standard with three skew and two bow rollers.

Mahlo stated that the stepless positioning drive of the straightening rollers with the unique hydraulic unit or frequency-controlled electric motors combines the shortest positioning times with high precision and low amount of maintenance.

Sensitive product tension control with differential gear and dancer control keeps product tension as low as possible, but still as high as necessary for straightening.

The TexCoat G4.Non-contact spray systems from Baldwin under spotlight

Baldwin Technology Company Inc made opportunities and provided a platform to discuss its non-contact spray finishing systems.

Baldwin introduced its non-contact spray systems for finishing and remoistening, including TexCoat G4, TexMoister G2, and the Ahlbrandt Rotor Spray, which were designed to save chemistry, time and production costs while enabling sustainable textile production.

For textiles, nonwovens and technical textiles, Baldwin’s precision spray technology processed a wide range of low-viscosity water-based chemicals, such as softeners, antimicrobial agents, water repellents, oil repellents, flame retardants and more.

These systems enable fabric producers to significantly reduce chemical and water consumption while speeding up production times and eliminating production steps, including drying and bath changeovers when switching fabric colors.

Thies GmbH & Co, a German manufacturer of textile machinery and equipment, has concentrated on sustainable product solutions and focuses on the development of innovative, intelligent and integrated concepts for yarn and fabric dyeing.

The company highlighted its yarn dyeing machine, the iCone; its innovative dyeing machine, the iMaster H2O; its universal, green dyeing machine, the soft-TRD SIII; and its dosing and dispensing systems.

The iCone yarn dyeing machine is suitable for bleaching and dyeing fibres in different forms like packages, warp beams, combed tops or flock. This means the machine can be integrated into existing facilities like material carriers and correspondingly for adaption to existing dryers.

The soft-TRD SIII combines fabric running properties with the latest short liquor ratio technology, which means a variety of sensitive fabrics can be treated gently. It is suitable for finishing polyester fabrics due to the high-performance temperature regulation.
