The customer expectations and the increasing requirements for quality control have grown in parallel with the advances in intelligent inspection technologies. At ITMA 2019, visitors were given a valuable opportunity to view a comprehensive portfolio of systems for quality control and process optimization at different production stage.

Loepfe premieres yarn clearer with four sensor technologies

During an interview with CTA at ITMA 2019, Silvano Auciello, Sales Director, Loepfe Brothers Ltd said: “The total solution from Loepfe offers lasting improvements in quality management while increasing productivity and efficiency for both spinning and weaving mills.”

Silvano Auciello commented that there are two significant trends in the industry: digitalization and connectivity. The company is developing more innovative solutions to meet the trends and market needs. “For example, with our total solution, we can collect comprehensive data, do monitoring, and then transmit data through cloud system.”

“I think digitalization has been developed in a good way. But there is still scope for development and improvement. With digitalization, the handling of yarns becomes easier,” he said.

He observed that, in China, the company’s biggest market, there has been a higher degree of automation in the spinning industry and this trend will continue in the coming years.

However, he witnessed that some small spinning mills are disappearing while the bigger spinning mills are dominating the Chinese market. “I think small mills can survive but they need to be more flexible on their products. And we do provide flexible solutions for those small mills. For instance, our product covers a broad range of yarn counts so that the spinners do not need to change anything.”

At ITMA 2019, the Swiss company premiered a brand-new yarn clearer – the YarnMaster PRISMA.

For the first time, the YarnMaster PRISMA combines new and established sensor technologies in one device. Four sensor technologies, which are Optical Infrared, Mass, Optical RGB and Triboelectric, interact intelligently and ensure fault visibility and data quality.

Moreover, the YarnMaster PRISMA has a new integrated function: the MillMaster TOP management system for analyzing and optimizing yarn quality. 100% online monitoring of quality data produced by the yarn clearers reduces the need for routine laboratory tests. Effective online quality management is one of the key success factors for winding and results in efficiency and lower costs.

Commenting on the strategic moves of the company, Silvano Auciello revealed that Loepfe had a substantial investment in the extension of its headquarters in Switzerland. With a total of 2,500 m2 floor space, the new building will accommodate the general management, R&D, product management, etc.

The company is also assessing the possibility to expand into a new market. “In addition to China, other important markets for Loepfe include India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. We are also observing Africa and I think the possible new market might come up like Ethiopia,” he said.

Loptex debuts new EXA system for spinning and nonwovens sectors

The booth of Loptex.Loptex presented for the first time at ITMA its new EXA system, specially designed to grant comprehensive and accurate detection contamination in spinning and in nonwovens sectors. EXA implements robust technologies to face the critical conditions of blow room lines.

EXA, by means of arrays of multiple embedded camera systems and multiple illumination sources, detects, classifies and eliminates all type of contaminants. The system separates contamination in a continuous fibers flow and does not interfere with the production of the line, ensuring efficient removal of contaminants.

In addition, EXA Class, a data acquisition and contamination classification system, downloads statistical data and contamination images from the sorter units. It classifies them according to color and size. It also provides important quality information on processing material and remote control of sorter units.

The system connects, integrates, analyses and interprets vital quality information from every stage of the fiber-to-yarn process. This analysis is based on USTER application know-how and produces alerts about exceptions and suggestions for fixing them, as well as improvements when necessary.
