SETEX provides a comprehensive range of solutions for building smart factories.

Most customers from textile finishing and machine manufacturers are looking for smart factory solutions. As a manufacturer for both controller hardware and central manufacturing operation management software, SETEX will focus on opportunities brought by Industry 4.0, showing how its best-in-class technology can combine data and creativity to drive strong results.

Customized best solutions for personal requirements

With the last generation of textile machines and constantly new textile articles on the market, production processes inevitably getting more difficult to manage with old systems.

When sharing the technology and market developing trends, Mr. Oliver Schermuly, General Manager said: “We provide outstanding performance through leading technology to our machine-manufacturing partners. Textile factories need to know the performance of every machine to make business and major capital investment decisions.”

The new SETEX OrgaTEX X1 Manufacturing Organization Management software is designed for today’s world, based on latest modern software technology, he stressed.

“The digital transformation towards Industry 4.0 is not like flu – it will not go away! Textile factories need in-depth information of energy per machine, most frequent downtime reasons or best & worst performing machines to improve productivity continuously, Mr. Oliver Schermuly continued.

According to him, almost all customers looking for production automation are contacting the company explicitly for intelligent mechanisms, smart factory solutions and modern Industry 4.0 software modules.

In his opinion, smart sensors with built in PLCs communicating in real-time with hosts in the cloud, will not replace the state-of-the-art techniques in textile production in the near future.

“But customers are requesting functionalities like predictive maintenance, predictive energy management or intelligent self-adapting processes. The challenge is to provide highly configurable solutions with an effective real-time communication between different system layers such as MES/MOM software, HMI on the machines and PLCs, with highly specialized routines and proprietary operating systems,” he remarked.

Such solutions require teamwork of various stakeholders. On the system-automation side, machine manufacturers, automation suppliers and MES software suppliers need to cooperate. On customer side, production, maintenance, planning, third party systems and management (OEE, TCO) are to be involved.

However, many customers are not aware that such solutions are no “off-the-shelf” products. “Often, we need to structure the project and interfaces for them. We want to provide our customers with individual, customized solution. In short, the best system for his personal requirements,” he explained.

Securing leading position with record sales and earnings

In 2016, SETEX achieved record sales and earnings. After three quarters in 2017, the number promises a similar result for 2017. Sales to machine manufacturers of the successful SECOM 777CE and 787TCE controllers continued with profitable growth.

Also in the automation of textile companies, the German company again gained new clients and, thus, further improving its leading position in the textile automation market.

China has been one of SETEX’s strongest markets, the company continues to achieve reasonable grow rate and see a promising good situation.

In particular, Mr. Oliver Schermuly mentioned that many Chinese factories are investing in Vietnam and other south-east countries. Accurate reproduction of the production performance is a key competitive factor for them. SETEX supports them right from the beginning as an experienced partner with best-in-class-technology.

Lastly, he unveiled that the new OrgaTEX X1 suite with its innovative method for a self-determined optimization of production processes and recipes shall be strengthened, with further modules to create value from big data.

“With upcoming Industry 4.0 functionalities, the relevant type and quantity of data are going to increase rapidly. The analytics of things is the next big thing,” he concluded.

Solutions for the arrival of Industry 4.0

Experts from textile finishing and machine manufacturers are looking for smart factory solutions. As manufacturer for both, IoT designed machine controls and fully integrated OrgaTEX X1 manufacturing operations management software, SETEX covers the essential components to arrive at Industry 4.0 level.

As a total solution provider, the SETEX portfolio contains as well integrated solutions with other dyehouse systems as ERP and color matching software.

The new release of the OrgaTEX X1 Production Recipe module uses intelligent, rules based method of know-how management. This includes an automatic customization and optimization of recipes and dyeing procedures, running automatically in the background for easy use in a very demanding day job.

The Lab2Bulk software module provides a logical link between the recipes generated by Datacolor Match software in the lab and the processes used in production.

Textile factories need in-depth information of energy per machine, most frequent downtime reasons or best & worst performing machines to improve productivity continuously. OrgaTEX X1 techniques for linking with finishing machines and energy management assets open new potential with information available everywhere in real-time and in better quality. The company also helps customers to structure the project and interfaces for them.
